      Some people seem to be under the impression that grift and other abuses of power are accepted perks of political positions. I suppose to some extent, that's true. Just not to an absolute extent.

          How did she become a judge in the first place? I assume she would have received the appointment owing to years of experience as a barrister or courtroom litigator. That alone would enable her to comprehend the protocol of the courts.

                I think we’re supposed to live in a world where POTUS can say clearly that he’s going to choose a black female SCOTUS member, while not saying out loud that any random black female judge might probably have been selected due to their identity bona fides.

                    Right, I had forgotten that was the practice in the US.

                    Not sure that she should have been elected county dog catcher let alone a judge.

                      Only some jurisdictions elect judges. FWIW
