    If you opened this thread because of “IEEE”, you are likely a geek.
    If you opened this thread because of “Playboy,” well … you know what you are.

    Most people do not associate the IEEE with the Playboy magazine.
    Well, in large part because most people do not really know what IEEE is.
    But even just among those who know what IEEE is, the overwhelming majority would not associate the IEEE with Playboy.
    But here we are …

    Apparently a 512 x 512 pixel scanned partial image of a certain Playboy centerfold from a 1972 issue has been used rather extensively in computer imaging research in the 1970s-1990s, and thus have been cited frequently in scholarly publications in this field. The IEEE is one of the largest publisher of technical papers on computer imaging, and only recently got around to banning the use of this image in its publications. :man-shrugging:
