What was the reception to the movie ‘Oppenheimer’ like in Germany?

    Did you see it?

I saw it. It was a great movie, even though it suffered a little from introducing too many persons and side-issues that are a little confusing unless you are very famiilar with his story.

I can't say much particularly about how it was received here.

One thing I can say is that very close to where I live - just 20 miles from my place - there's the place where the German atomic program was developed during WW2. This place is now a (very small) museum, which isn't particularly interesting by itself, but they have people there who can tell the stories of that place, and they are interesting to say the least.

A stroke of luck that they did not develop it first. But I wonder if they could have deployed many given the industrial degradation that was taking place by then.

One thing I learned in the museum was that the Germans were nowhere close to having an atomic bomb. The Americans suspected that the German program was much more advanced than it actually was.

Hitler was skeptical of “Jewish science”.
