Jim Acosta: How can the administration discuss the possibility of reopening the country when the administration does not have an adequate nationwide testing system for this virus? Don't you need a nationwide testing system for the virus before you reopen?

    TRUMP: "No."

    Only non-witches get due process.

It's not up to him to reopen anything.

The state governors and the people, are in control as to when they decide to "re-open".

I for one will not be "re-opening" until a proven treatment and or, vaccine is available for all.

I don't give a flying fuck what words come out of the White House.

Yeah, but the politicization of this is quickly being dialed back up. Lots of red state governors will follow his lead.

The president, the governors and most citizens should have been talking about opening up a long time ago.

          Talking.

It’s not like these guys can only do one thing.

Talk about it, have some goals, if they don’t work try some better goals.

Collect what healthy people you can and figure it out.

If you are waiting for someone like Jim Acosta to give you a serious question, forget it.

I am very happy we voted out Walker in the last election.

Doesn't matter who you voted in or out. At some point, the country has to go back to work. Or at least portions of it.

                It's all cost/benefit.

That’s obviously true. The question is will it be done before we’re ready.

@jon-nyc I don't grant that it's an "obvious truth" that there are economic tradeoffs which should be reasonably measured against health concerns. It's obvious to some of us but if you're the sort who uses the pricelessness of life idea in rhetorical discussion, or allows it to pass in rhetorical discussion without question because you like the directionality of it, you don't get to honestly claim that the idea is obvious.

                      Education is extremely important.

Well I guess there’s a sense in which no truths are obvious if we require consensus.

But FWIW my comment was directed at jolly’s first comment that at some point we all have to get back to it.

I'm not being anywhere near that pedantic. With how completely ubiquitous the rhetoric of priceless life is these days, I don't have to get anywhere near demanding a consensus when that rhetoric is directly exclusive with the alleged obvious truth.

But of course most people who invoke the priceless life thing are not thinking too hard about what the phrase actually means, content in the virtue signal of saying it, or more charitably, content in the directionality of it. But it shuts down conversations to be sure. Which is another point of those who invoke that idea which is mutually exclusive with this allegedly obvious truth.
