DIY Cannon

Piker.
Take a five foot long piece of Schedule 80, weld in two 1/4" plates to the inside of the bore, wrap the pipe in piano wire, silver soldering the wire every so often, drill your touch hole and voila! You have a decent half-ass, black-powder cannon.
Now, I've never seen one shot with a cannonball, although I bet a cast zinc one would be a hoot. I have seen one used with assorted old nails, nuts, bolts and even an old cast iron stove broken into small pieces.

I enjoyed it because of the small scale of the work. The effect on the soda cans was impressive, but no doubt enhanced by the fizzy nature of the liquid.
The only criticism I have (and it's minor) is that to drill the barrel, I would have put it in a vise mounted on a drill press - just so there's no question of it not being aligned with the rest of the bolt.
