Moral/Ethic Dilemma - Don't know the answer
-
A hospital is suing a quadriplegic 18-year-old to make her go to a nursing home
A young North Carolina woman has refused to go to a nursing home in another state. While she wants to leave the hospital, she asks to live in her own home, close to family and her school.

Earlier in her career my sister ran a department of nurses and social workers that, among other things, was tasked with ‘rehoming’ patients who needed care but not a hospital. It’s tough, they have very specific requirements about discharge, yet they often had numerous patients that were basically living there for a lack of alternatives.

OTOH, since we have some Dems in favor of post-birth abortions, unplug her ass, roll her in the corner and slab her in the morgue when she quits gasping.
Just call it an abortion and it's all ethical.

I'm a little disappointed you didn't manage to shoe-horn circumcision and gay marriage into the discussion

Didn't say a thing that wasn't true. :man-shrugging:

She's Medicaid.
Sorry, it doesn't pay enough for you to stay. Being on the vent, only certain facilities will take her.
Life ain't Burger King.

Life ain't Burger King.
Sure about that? You’ve got to face unexpected ingredients, long waiting times and the occasional burnt offering… but hey, at least the napkins are free (most of the time)!

Nor did you say anything that was relevant to the discussion.

Oh, I think I did, on multiple levels:
- Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement.
- Assignment of patients based on the willingness of facilities to take them
- Sanctity of life vs. a political party's interpretation of it.
There's a lot more than that, but these are all cogent subjects in this conversation.

Your points 1 & 2 are relevant.
Your point 3 is an irrelevant distractor to the topic at hand.

Nope, I disagree. Financial costs are a huge factor in end-of-life decisions. In this case, the government is paying, therefore the government has a say...That's probably why the institution restriction. Also, why I think the next big battleground for medical resources is going to be the last 12 months of life.
-
My mistake, I thought you going on about post birth abortions and Democrats.
Sorry for the misunderstanding. Your point 3 as you explain it, is indeed relevant as it is ever growing and pressing issue confronting health care delivery systems throughout North America. That is not in dispute.

We have to decide who we trust more, the government or insurance companies.
OK, trust more is not really accurate. We have to decide who we trust less.
