Is hydrogen "cleaner" than traditional electric vehicles - is the reliance on rare-earth metals, etc any smaller?

Again, there's the huge infrastructure problem. But, being able to refuel, quickly at the corner gas station (yeah, I said "gas") would solve a lot of issues with plugging into a network - somewhere.

Hydrogen powered is still internal combustion, is it not? I'd think in the long run much cleaner. Then there is the weight factor to consider. EVs are about 50% heavier than an IC car. That has an impact on our roadways and especially urban bridges.

The problems I see with hydrogen are it tends to leak as it's such a small molecule, it's relatively expensive to produce, you have to store it at high pressure, and when it ignites, it does so in a big way.

It's got to be a lot cleaner than lithium batteries.

        I was only joking

Problem with hydrogen is it takes more energy to make it than what you get. But...here's where I think that solar or wind could shine, as best they can.

No. Hydrogen is used in a fuel cell to make electricity.

BMW and Sasol, a multinational integrated chemical and energy corporation, are working together to develop hydrogen fuel cell technology for electric vehicles.

I have hear that Toyota is also doing alot of research into Hydrogen power cars.

              That is a good thing.
