    https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0264410X24001270?via%3Dihub

    Methods

Using a common protocol, this observational cohort study compared observed with expected rates of 13 selected AESI across neurological, haematological, and cardiac outcomes. Expected rates were obtained by participating sites using pre-COVID-19 vaccination healthcare data stratified by age and sex. Observed rates were reported from the same healthcare datasets since COVID-19 vaccination program rollout. AESI occurring up to 42 days following vaccination with mRNA (BNT162b2 and mRNA-1273) and adenovirus-vector (ChAdOx1) vaccines were included in the primary analysis. Risks were assessed using observed versus expected (OE) ratios with 95 % confidence intervals. Prioritised potential safety signals were those with lower bound of the 95 % confidence interval (LBCI) greater than 1.5.

    Results

Participants included 99,068,901 vaccinated individuals. In total, 183,559,462 doses of BNT162b2, 36,178,442 doses of mRNA-1273, and 23,093,399 doses of ChAdOx1 were administered across participating sites in the study period. Risk periods following homologous vaccination schedules contributed 23,168,335 person-years of follow-up. OE ratios with LBCI > 1.5 were observed for Guillain-Barré syndrome (2.49, 95 % CI: 2.15, 2.87) and cerebral venous sinus thrombosis (3.23, 95 % CI: 2.51, 4.09) following the first dose of ChAdOx1 vaccine. Acute disseminated encephalomyelitis showed an OE ratio of 3.78 (95 % CI: 1.52, 7.78) following the first dose of mRNA-1273 vaccine. The OE ratios for myocarditis and pericarditis following BNT162b2, mRNA-1273, and ChAdOx1 were significantly increased with LBCIs > 1.5.

    Conclusion

This multi-country analysis confirmed pre-established safety signals for myocarditis, pericarditis, Guillain-Barré syndrome, and cerebral venous sinus thrombosis. Other potential safety signals that require further investigation were identified.

So how does that differ from other established vaccines such as the flu or any of the periodic vaccines for travellers?

I'm not sure exactly what the conclusion tells me. Can you explain?

@Mik said in Safety of COVID vaccines:

I'm not sure exactly what the conclusion tells me. Can you explain?

The way I read it, the incident of side effects, namely, myocarditis, guillian barre syndrome, and other things is higher than would be expected in a normal population.

However, they also say that this is not rise to the standard of being worrisome.

At the end, They have adjusted further studies be done.

Still a study with 93 million people is impressive.

I don’t pretend to know enough immunology to comment on the relative risks of these vaccines compared to other things that we get all the time. If I recall, Guillain-Barré syndrome can occur after normal flu vaccination.

            Thanks. That’s relatively good news.

My gut tells me it's a bit of a stretch to say that these were deaths CAUSED by the COVID vaccine.

As I said, the incidence of adverse effects is certainly not zero.

Guillan-Barre is more than twice as likely to occur. However, being an exceptionally rare disease (I've seen one), the dangers, imo, are overstated.

There is a nurse where my wife works that suffered Guillan-Barre after getting the flu shot some years back. She was in bad shape for some time. When C19 hit she was among those exempted from the provincial mandate ordering health care workers to vaccinate.

Scientists have studied the immune system of a man in Germany who claims to have received 217 Covid-19 vaccines.

The researchers were concerned that the man's immune system might have become exhausted with such frequent and numerous challenges with vaccines against the same virus, but they actually found the opposite.

Their analysis published in the journal Lancet Infectious Diseases found that not only did the man, 62, have a fully functional immune system, there were indicators that his immunity against the virus that causes Covid-19 was better than people who had just received a normal number of vaccines.

There is official evidence of the man having 134 Covid-19 vaccines of eight different types including mRNA vaccines over a nine-month period, although the man claims the amount to be 217 in total over 29 months.

My MIL was diagnosed with GB, but I did not believe it for a minute. Her symptoms were completely atypical. i just think the guy didn't know what else to call it.

According to some people and websites, he should now be a fully assimilated Borg drone.

Pleased to learn that is not the case.
