That simply reinforces why I am getting groceries either delivered or put in my car.

Problem in our area is that you can’t get a time. They are all booked up. Can’t even get something a week out

Picked up some stuff at a Wal-Mart Family Market today. Took three days to get a pickup time.

Yeah, three days is normal pre-covid time. Seriously.

                Forget convenience. Plan ahead.

@Mik the services down here aren’t allowing you to plan ahead. They show a limited number of days and those days are already sold out.

Frankly, I am going to be driving to a small town outside of Harpers Ferry, WV to pick up a few necessaries tomorrow.

@Mik Pre-COVID was five days for Amazon, almost completely reliably.

Now it's "whenever we can get it there". Usually my orders are split up and come from different companies. I ordered a 6-pack of Barilla pasta from Amazon (and glad to get it) and received it directly from Barilla, e.g.

My impression is that Amazon at any rate is doing their best to keep up.

My strategy is to have my staples stocked up and only be buying produce, dairy (2 gallons of milk in the freezer), bread, things that don’t keep that well. Buy a bit more than you need and try to keep trips down to a week and a half or two. Plan ahead.

Today's run was for milk, bread, eggs and a bit of produce + three things for my in-laws. If I couldn't get it, I wouldn't have worried. I have at minimum 60 days supplies, including sugar, salt, soaps, flour, canned and dry milk, canned vegetables, pasta, spam, peanut butter, one freezer full of meat and one full of vegetables.

Good Lord willin, in the next 90 days I'll lay in 75 jars of green beans, 30 pints of corn, 25 pints of field peas and 20 pints of butterbeans. That's not counting tomatoes, squash, eggplant and peppers. Then I'll think about the fall garden.
