They claim the phone is IP 68, so water shouldn't get in at all even if it is immersed. Even the older were ones were claimed to be IP 67, which should be good for 1m immersion.

Yes, the IP X8 rating covers immersion for a specified time, which can vary. I think the phone ratings are for 30 minutes.
