One of the funeral homes that my wife often plays at, has an old Roland KR-577 that sometimes will give you a goose honk instead of a G or other note. It looks like it cannot be repaired. A 577:

They asked my wife today, if she would assist in replacing it.

Let me describe what they have...

As I said, it's an older Roland with lots of functions, none of which they use. It's patched in to an antiquated sound system, that also plays some recorded music, either CDs or thumb drive, along with recording the funeral service on thumb drive. Yes, I know things would work better with a laptop linking the piano and recorded music, but the owner is four years older than God and tighter than a hungry tick.

    So, purchase parameters:

    1. Capability. The instrument really only needs a great piano sound and a decent organ sound for the very rare time that an organ piece is requested ( once in two years). To be honest, the organ sound is not a deal-breaker if it's not there. One feature that is used on the Roland is a transpose feature, so the key can be changed up or down easily. It also needs a way to interface to the old system, but enough versatility to work with better technology, should it ever be bought.
    2. Touch. Better be weighted and it needs to be good. The biggest problem with the Roland is the inability to control sound intensity with the keys.
    3. Price. Remember, we're dealing with the Tick. It's going to have to deliver value and cost no more than necessary.
    4. Cabinet. This will be a cabinet model. Finish does not matter.
    5. Lastly, because the owner is old skool, expects service after the sale, and buys local, it narrows down to the two local stores. One carries Kawaii, one carries Yamaha.

Where does my wife start? And what should the business budget?

Or a Roland HP704 if he’s willing to look a little further. $3Kish.

Won't be a Roland. No local dealer. Gonna be a Kawai or a Yamaha.
