Taylor Swift's biggest problem getting to the 2024 Super Bowl

Here's Taylor Swift's biggest problem getting to the 2024 Super Bowl and it's not the flight from Tokyo
When it comes to the Super Bowl, it turns out that Taylor Swift's biggest challenge isn't going to be making it to the game on time from Tokyo. As we established earlier this week, Swift, who has a concert in Japan on Feb. 10, will have plenty of time to make to Las Vegas for the big game thanks to the magic of the international dateline.
Since getting to Vegas likely won't be an issue for Swift, that means her biggest problem might be trying to get her plane parked. In what might possibly be the biggest first-world problem that has ever existed, all the parking spaces for private planes in Las Vegas are currently booked, according to the Associated Press.

Flying into Nantucket on a busy summer weekend, I found out that you can save $5 per night by parking on the grass.
I bet all these guys with their fancy jets wish they knew this secret. I had the grass all to myself. But it did take a little longer to get to the terminal.
Maybe Taylor could do this in Vegas.

Her pilot could just drop her off and take it to Reno for the day.
Kind of what I was thinking…

Must be nice to have money. Private jet to/from Tokyo to US probably USD$250K. But for her, similar to spending USD$200 I guess. First world problem.
-
I’d hardly call it 1st world problems… I’ve lived here my whole live and never faced the problem… I imagine the only one here that has would be Copper, and his planes weren’t Dauntless 900s…
-
By the way, the trip back will emit more carcin than 9 Americans in a year…

I read somewhere that she buys carbon offsets when she uses her jet. Wasn’t that posted here?
I’d rather see her get off the plane and plant a tree.

Carbon offsets are even more imaginary than NFTs…

Tell you what, for every $10K that Taylor Swift gives me, she can fly her plane 5 times and I won’t fly mine once! What a deal! It’s like she’s scrubbing carbon out of the atmosphere!

We've got a business building a carbon capture plant in the state. What happens when those government subsidies go away?

Watching you guys worrying about Taylor Swift is hilarious.
Not to worry, guys, as somebody pointed out on Fox, Trump has Kid Rock, Ted Nugent and John Voight.

Probably more like you spending $5.

Taylor Swift's legal team wants a college student tracking her private jet to stop because they say she is living "in a constant state of fear for her personal safety" as a result.
University of Central Florida student Jack Sweeney, who says he uses publicly available information to track Swift and other celebrities' private jets and shares their locations on social media, told NBC News that the pop star's attorneys sent him a cease and desist letter.
According to the letter, first reported by The Washington Post, Swift's legal team says the singer will “have no choice but to pursue any and all legal remedies” if he did not stop his “stalking and harassing behavior.”

Since the information is already public, I am not sure how they could require him to stop.

To solve this more generally, the whole system probably needs to change to allow each aircraft to (1) use frequently changing publicly visible identifier to identify itself, and (2) have a way to authenticate itself to the authorities (like the flight control towers) in a manner that does not expose its true identity on the open airwaves.
This may be similar to how computers/smartphones/tablets preserve privacy. Take Wi-Fi, for example. Each piece of Wi-Fi capable equipment has a fixed, permanently-assigned (burnt into the hardware) identifier that can uniquely the equipment. And Wi-Fi used to just use these identifiers on the open airwaves to communicate -- until people realize that carrying around and broadcasting these permanent identifiers around with you all the time is a privacy risk. Now newer W-Fi equipment uses randomly generated identifiers on the open airwaves, and have other ways of authenticating the equipment or the user in encrypted channel.
This sort of transition might take a ridiculously long time, though. People change their Wi-Fi capable gadgets every few years, but they keep old aircrafts operational for decades. :man-shrugging:

A sign of the economy. Blame it on President Biden. LOL
Taylor Swift is reported to have downsized to just one private jet after selling off her second one behind the scenes.
According to the Federal Aviation Authority's website, the 34-year-old hitmaker sold her Dassault Falcon 900 on January 30. The jet was registered to SATA LLC which shares an address with Taylor Swift Productions in Nashville, and had been in her possession since 2009.
It is now registered to a business in Missouri. The jet has a list price of $44million (£38m) when new. Up until now, Taylor owned both the Dassault 900 and a Dassault 7X which is still registered to Island Jet Inc - another holding company that shares its address with Taylor Swift Productions.
The Dassault 900 was the smaller of the two jets, carrying up to 12 passengers, while the Dassault 7X can hold up to 16 passengers and is designed with longer flights in mind.
