I do not want to know how you know that.

"Quinciñeara" is fairly popular custom in Mexico and Latin America, no? I figure it's common knowledge.

    For you.

Seriously? No one else here familiar with the term "quinceneara"? It should be pretty well known given the size and spread of Mexican/Latino communities here.

There was a movie of that title that achieved some fame 15+ years ago. I watched it. I recall at the time that it was a quaint look into latino culture. These days different cultures are everywhere in popular entertainment, and it wouldn't stand out like that.

      Education is extremely important.

I’ve seen that photo before. In fact, not that long ago. Can’t remember who it is, although something tells me she was very well known in her day.

        Elbows up!

I cheated and googled it. Still have no idea who she was.

          But JWHT, to be sure.

The saying, "Lite is just one damn thing after another," is a gross understatement. The damn things overlap.

BTW, she died at 90, same year as one of her older sisters. One of her sisters is still alive. 103, I think...

Now, the reason you don't know her as well as you should...Her career was doing very, very well, until she pissed off Jack Warner and he blackballed her. Which prompted her to sue him. She essentially won, but by that time she was married and she started walking away from the movies. She made a few oaters in the 1950's, but not in the same stratosphere she was in in the 1940's.

Why is it that people between 50-150 years ago always (to me) seem to look older than they are?

When I see a picture of someone between 15-50 years old, I make a guess that they are X years old. And they always turn out to be X-15 years old or something like that.

Is it just the clothing style or something else?

Why do we say JWHT as if it’s a great accomplishment? Jon would hit Rue McLanahan, and she’s been dead for 5 years…

JWHT, Jolly would HT, George would HT, pretty much every heterosexual male in this site would’ve hit that if the circumstances were right (Time machine, single, she’s of age, no chance you could accidentally become your own relative…)
