Long article following up on the NFL's settlement for their players' concussion lawsuits.

The tenor of the article looks like this: the definition for dementia used by the compensation program to qualify for compensation is stricter than that in standard medical practice, and the administrators of the compensation programs unfairly deny compensations for many legitimate claims anyway.

Interesting article. From my understand, a football career is pretty short, and if the players are like alot of athletes, they do not save too much money during their careers.

It is a tough situation. Did the football owners intentionally put the players at risk?

Hopefully, they can set up a better fund that will help future players. Not sure why they would have a different standard to determine dementia vs. the regular public.

        Big dogs lead shorter lives.

Guys know the danger of the sport going in. It's not IF you get hurt, but how much and when...Even at the high school level.

I think that the NFL should do a couple of things:

        1. Standardize their dementia definition to the rest of Medicine.
        2. Limit career concussions. X number and you're retired.
