President Trump allowed on illinois ballot.
Attorneys for Trump and citizens seeking to keep the Republican former president off the ballot presented their arguments Friday before the hearing officer, Clark Erickson. The retired longtime Kankakee County judge is a Republican.
Erickson’s 21-page recommendation concluded that a “preponderance of the evidence” presented proves that Trump engaged in insurrection.
But he said the election board can’t engage in the “significant and sophisticated constitutional analysis” required to remove Trump’s name before the March 19 primary.
So, the
Illinois’ election board on Tuesday kept former President Donald Trump on the state’s primary ballot, a week before the U.S. Supreme Court hears arguments on whether his role in the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol disqualifies him from the presidency.
The eight-member board, composed of four Democrats and four Republicans, agreed with a recommendation from its lawyer to let Trump — the front-runner in the Republican primary — remain on the ballot by determining it didn’t have the authority to determine whether he violated the U.S. Constitution.

The election board recognizes that the matter before them is beyond their authority, and I am fine with that. Let's see what the Supreme Court says.
