Interesting piece, although I disagree with her. There used to be a program called Commodities where they distributed food for families. You ate what they provided. It made some sense. You couldn't sell food stamps to buy beer and cigarettes. IMO you shouldn't be able to buy Pepsi and Cheetos and squawk about your child's nutritional needs.

Whether it’s related to Medicaid, the environment, transportation or housing, many states are desperate for help managing the ever-increasing needs of their communities.

Inflation. It’s called inflation. Inflation of medical care expenses, inflation of insurance premiums, inflation of fuel prices and vehicle manufacturing costs, rental inflation, inflation of interest rates, and inflation of basic good prices. Say it with me… Inflation…

Want a better way to spend your money?

Down here, that's usually done through various schools in the school district. The meals are eat-in or grab-n-go. The dieticians try to make them nutritionally balanced.

What do they look like? Let's take a look at a week in Louisiana:

The question then becomes, why would you give them an extra $40/child, when we're already feeding them for free?
