I think they are preferred by "gamers" because the connection is quicker something like that. (The feedback or signal to the game is quicker)

My son used one for his gaming for a while. The argument is they give better tactile feedback, and may be quicker, as TG said this can be a big deal for gaming. They're also supposed to last longer. I tried some out when I bought my PC, and ended up getting a decent Corsair membrane keyboard instead.
The downside is they're noisier, and more expensive. The noise got really annoying.
