Journey To Antiquities

Was fortunate to just come back from a trip to Greece/Turkey/Italy. Great trip if you like ancient history! First time I have ever go to that part of the world. It is amazing the engineering and building skills people had back then with just hand tools.
(Of course, somewhere on the way back, I managed to catch COVID. Not too bad, but my body is just very tired. I think basically a mild case.)

Emabassies of Holy See. Most are just a single office space in a building just over the "border". Taiwan flag is on the top of the first picture. Interesting that none of the embassies is actually in the Holy See. They are all located in Italy. Also interesting is that Italy does not recognize Taiwan, but yet hosts its embassy. LOL

Look at how long it took to build the Empire State Building and others from that era. Even the
SearsWillis Tower took less than a decade.Compare with the boondoggles of the Boston tunnel, California's (sort-of) high-speed rail.

@George-K On the tour of the Coloseum, the tour director was talking about how they moved and lifted such large pieces of stone. He said that they basically had a giant hamster wheel attached to ropes/pulleys and there were be tens or hundreds of people walking on this hamster wheel to provide the power. Crazy!!!
