Well, they made their money the old fashioned way - they inherited it.
On a (somewhat) related note, we (as a society) always seem to give more "weight" to an opinion of someone who has money, or is somehow famous.
Billionaire X says that the economy is going to go up/down/stay the same
Kim Kardashian (or other celebrity) says something about some current event and people listen closely.I actually have a lot more respect for the opinions/recommendations that I read here than from any celebrity.
