When I was young I assumed we were blank slates.

Now, on the other side of three kids and a couple dozen nieces/nephews, I think at best we pass along something like values, habits and knowledge.

Personalities and temperaments seem pretty fully baked from nature.

Follow this line of logic pretty much anywhere, and you run afoul of the magical thinking masses and their blank slate ideology where formal education is the great equalizer of all human potential.
