We attended a Nigerian neighbor's Christmas party on Christmas evening. Christmas parties are traditional there. Have to admit, didn't exactly feel welcome by the crowd of 30 or more Nigerians. My mom and I were the only white people there, while my wife and a neighbor family were the only other non-Nigerians. People were friendly if you went up and introduced yourself, but nobody lifted a finger to approach and introduce themselves. Made me appreciate the western culture of bending over backwards to be inclusive and gregarious, lest we be considered insular or xenophobic. There were no such qualms in this group.

Clearly you've never been to England
My father's best friend from Ghana. He used to make rude comments about Nigerians.
As far as protests go, it's pretty much a given that nobody ever protests about anything that happens in Africa.

I was in Cambridge last year, and come to think of it, you have a point.

When I was in grad school in Ottawa I shared a house with several people. One them was a very amiable fellow from Trinidad. He was a divorcee who referred to his Jamaican ex wife as “that white woman”. One day “that white woman” rang the doorbell and dropped off two beautiful school age little black girls for their dad to look after that weekend. I told him later that if he thought “that white woman” isn’t black then I must be a Jew. He then explained that among islanders, all Jamaicans are white.

Do you think the misgendered guy on the Delta flight was big news in Africa?
Virtue goes both ways.
