Forgot to tell y'all about this one ...

Was up at Cowboy Church a couple of months ago. Wife was filling in for the regular pianist.

When they finished the last hymn, the musicians stood up and went back into the congregation. Except for the drummer. He stood up, wobbled a trifle, then fell over a cymbal stand into the piano.

I got to him first, with a nurse right behind me. He's breathing, a little confused. I cleared things out, as the nurse attended to the drummer. The congregation parted and doc shuffled up onto the stage.

By this time the drummer is starting to come round. Doc is looking at his pupils, asking him questions and trying to do a rudimentary eval. The cut on the guy's head is minor and soon patched up with some donated bandaids. Doc gets him to drink a little Coca-cola and we then load the drummer into his sister's SUV, with instructions to work him up at the nearest ED.

BTW, did I mention Doc is a retired family practice guy? Don't know when he retired, he's 92. A very active 92.

We were lucky he was at church that night. A widower, he had just gotten back from a driving trip, making a big round, seeing his kids and the family. Taking in a bit of the country, too. Well, a good bit of the country.

Doc drove a bit over 3000 miles. By himself.

Good for him. Bob, my aunt’s boyfriend, is I think 93 now and they are always galavanting about the US and Canada. He’s hilarious, sharp as a tack and a hearty partyer for his age. He’s my hero and my hope for my future.

          THere's a word I haven't heard in a long time.

The saying, "Lite is just one damn thing after another," is a gross understatement. The damn things overlap.
