Fetterman's growing on me

On some long-running criticisms that are levied against Fetterman:
-
Fashion sense should not have been an important metric with which to judge an elected legislator anyway.
-
As for Fetterman's speech impairment, his campaign said it's going to be temporary and that his condition will improve. Time has proven that they told the truth on that matter. Move on, be glad that Pennsylvania has elected a good US Senator into the U.S. Congress.

You wear (Walmart) neckties.
Why?
Is it because you like wearing neckties, or the situation in which you find yourself would find it inappropriate to be without a necktie?
There's something to be said to accepting the norms of your institution and society.

"Told the truth" ≠ "Were right." They were hopeful that his speech would recover, and they were correct. To say that "they told the truth" is not quite accurate. If his speech had not improved, would you say that they lied? I wouldn't - I would say that they were wrong.

I'll withhold judgment. Though I agree with many of the positions he's taken in the last 4 months, I've not been following his legislative activity close enough to judge.

Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) criticized Democrats who have spoken out against President Joe Biden, arguing that those who are “might as well just get your MAGA hat.”
The Pennsylvania senator’s comment comes as Biden is seeking reelection this November, with former President Donald Trump being his likely opponent. Ahead of the 2024 presidential election, multiple Democratic lawmakers and strategists have spoken out against Biden, citing recent policy decisions the president has made and concerns about his electability.
“I don’t understand why,” Fetterman said on MSNBC’s Morning Joe. “I don’t know what’s in it for you to do that, whether you’re just chasing clout or you want to make it in the news or anything like that. But if you’re not willing to just support the president now and say these kinds of things, you might as well just get your MAGA hat because you now are helping Trump with this.”

Good, but how did it get that far in the first place?
Someone, paid by us, thought it was a good idea.

Or thought it could reap donations.

Principled...
Libs of TikTok dives into bill - finds funding for what it finds "weird."
Fetterman pulls support for bill because it funds some weird stuff.
Bill pulled.
Fetterman finds out that Libs of TikTok revealed this.
Fetterman pulls his withdrawal.
HIs withdrawal of the withdrawal is moot, because it's already a non-issue.

“Oh, Bob Menendez,” he said, laughing. “What a guy. What a guy. He’s still running his mouth against Biden right now.”
“He needs to go. I don’t understand why he can be here, having expelled Santos,” he said. “But I’m sure there might be a very innocent explanation of having gold bars in your mattress and overstuffed envelopes of cash.”
Also wants to address immigration and support Israel.

Concern for squatter’s rights is the ultimate in performative empathy for the imagined oppressed, co-existing with zero empathy for real victims of crimes.

Paraphrasing a comment: "One more CVA and he'll go full MAGAT."
"And, second, I think that also was — Iran had to have some fireworks after Israel smoked that Iranian general, and I am here for that."
Not sure I am understanding that one…

I think he means that, after the strike on the embassy, Iran felt like it had to so some kind of pro-forma retaliation.
