Your next president

  • Not the Bureau of Indian Affairs?

  • It won't be Warren, Obama or Harris. They would both overshadow him and hes smart enough not to do that. Rice would be suicidal and drive conservative voters to the polls. Bass is the frontrunner as far as I can see.

As far as who wins the election? Tossup. The next three months are going to be long and bloody.

    Nikki Haley.

  • It doesnt matter who Biden picks. He's going to lose anyway.

  • Based on a very quick and dirty pass over Karen Bass, I kind of like what I see. She has explained her Cuba thing and her Scientology thing, at least to my satisfaction, with grace and common sense. She seems very sensible and articulate.

Plus, I like her looks. She looks just very quietly stylish and well put together. She has a good smile. I like what used to be called the cut of her jib.

Never liked Harris; never really looked into her, but she looks harsh and impatient in every pic I've seen.

Just don’t let it be Warren.

Just give Warren the DOJ, Treasury Dept, Labor Dept, FTC, SEC, SBA, CPB, CFPB, OSHA, Federal Reserves Board later. Maybe also throw in the Education Dept.

Honestly there are none of those perches from which she couldn't do damage. She can't have any role in policy. Maybe let her run GSA.

The politico piece made her sound reasonable and able to work across the aisle. But who knows how much of that was just puffery.

  • @jon-nyc said in Your next president:

Yeah, or papering over. I thought about that, too.

Still, if Biden wins, he is going to need our help; he'll be starting out with that dementia thing hanging over his head and all the other shit going on, and the damage left behind by Trump. If his pick for Veep is even halfway reasonable, we need to give the slate a shot.
We don't have a lot of wiggle room, and there is a shit-ton of woe we're having to bestride. We're kind of in a beggars-can't-be-choosers mode here.

  • I just noticed that the google result that I quoted above has been edited.

The "Movies" section is now gone.

She does have a past that should be buried.

I have no doubt the lefty fixer fairies will fix it.

That is some of the silliest thinking I've seen in a while. Please tell me jyst what "damage" you think Trump has done. Did strengthening our military piss you off? Maybe you don't like it that blacks got jobs. Or maybe you think it damages something that black owned businesses set records.

And what kind of thinking is it that thinks dementia is just a "thing". Jesus H. Christ.

And "we" do t need to do a DAMNED thing. But the real kicker is "yeah, she's a communist and loved Castro but she explained that and now I trust her"!!! SHIT, woman! You drop your pants the instant a communist says "sorry" but you won't cut even an inch of slack for a president that has accomplished all the things Trump has accomplished? And you think people should take you as sane?

Ah, but she "looks nice". Yeah buddy, that's how to decide who to vote for. Yessir!! " Trump has done tons of damage and I don't like how he speaks, so I'll support a communist because she looks nice..." DAMN.

I hope Biden picks Bass. Because all those Cubans who had to live under this ass clowns butthole buddy Castro aren't stupid enough to say "well, she explained it so that's ok, besides she looks good"... If Bass is on the ticket Trump will get 99% of the vote in Florida, as well as a few other states.

I don't mind someone having a different opinion on things from mine. But DAMN at least make an intelligent argument.

In the new version I bet the casino gives the nest-egg back.

Anyone who admired Castro and his Cuba and indulged in Scientology has no business in government, much less the presidency. You may as well pick Jane Fonda.

  • Well, this makes it all better, I suppose.

    https://www.politico.com/news/2020/08/02/karen-bass-fidel-castro-390413

Rep. Karen Bass on Sunday walked back 2016 comments praising Cuban leader Fidel Castro, as scrutiny of her views toward the Communist government threatened her potential selection as former Vice President Joe Biden's running mate.

On “Fox News Sunday,“ the California Democrat faced questions about several visits to Cuba in the 1970s and a statement she released after Castro's 2016 death saying that "the passing of the Comandante en Jefe is a great loss to the people of Cuba.”

Bass told Fox host Chris Wallace that her perspective "developed over time" and that she now understood that the Castro government "was a brutal regime." Bass said that she spoke with colleagues from Florida who raised concerns about her comments and that she "would not do that again, for sure."

"I absolutely would have not put that statement out," she said.
