Presidential pardons for family members and employees should be disallowed. It's banana republic stuff.

I think both. There are instances of pardoning family (Bill Clinton did something for his brother, though I think the sentence had been served).

Other presidents have pardoned people close to them who didn’t ‘deserve’ it, IOW there was no argument that they weren’t guilty. One can surmise from that that they likely would have pardoned family members too.

Here the special circumstance is Hunter is the sole surviving child and his life is somewhat precarious as a recovering addict.

Putting conspiracy theories to mediocre films is not a pardonable offence even in the USA. It’s just bad film art that makes a lot of $$$ from moviegoers.

Usually when a president leaves office the big scandal is his pardons.

Trump’s departure was so riddled with criminality he could have pardoned Charles Manson and Ted Bundy posthumously and no one would have noticed.
