    OK, this is weird.

    Actually, disturbing.

D4 and a friend have shared playdates with a third family. The last time, D4 couldn’t make it, so the friend, let’s call her “Amy” went alone to the third family’s home. The dad is a stay-at-home dad, and the mom works. Let’s call him “Barry.”

So, after the playdate, Amy got in touch with D4 and told her that she was profoundly disturbed at what happened during that afternoon’s playdate.

Barry welcomed Amy and her son into the home, and offered her a glass of wine. This is in early afternoon.

Barry was wearing a “Brat” sweatshirt. I had to look that up.

Then, he started talking to Amy about the … exciting relationship he has with his wife.

    They’re into BDSM.

He described, in great detail their activities, and how they have a swing in their bedroom. Then, he suggested that Amy and her husband might want to explore this lifestyle to “spice up” their relationship.

Needless to say, Amy was more than a little uncomfortable with this conversation, and asked D4 how to handle it. D4 then asked me what she should tell Amy.

    My thoughts.

    1. End all playdates if there’s only Barry and one adult. Three adults have to be there.
    2. Never accept any beverage or food. Who knows what’s in it.

    Anything else?

I’d excommunicate Barry and spouse for cause, and probably share why with Mrs. Barry. As the kids grow there will be less supervision. I could not care less what they do privately, but telling Amy about it is way, way out of bounds, and may have had even worse intent.

I thought this thread was going to be about German sausages… Well, maybe it is…

The guy was obviously making a play on the friend. Possibly with the wife’s permission. And while I shrug and say to each their own, it doesn’t necessarily mean that I would want even the most distant relationship with it. Sorry, but if they are into it to that extent, and he feels the need to exhibit the behavior through the sweatshirt and proselytizes about it, then it will bleed through in other ways, very few of which are benign.

D4 went on and on about how weirded-out Amy was by this whole affair.

No doubt. It was creepy just reading your post about it.

Very creepy. I'd steer well clear of that guy.

                I was only joking

I don’t know how anyone is answering without seeing a picture of the guy’s wife.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.
