        I didn’t know this:

On Inauguration Day, the Carter family walked down Pennsylvania Avenue to No. 1600. Only Thomas Jefferson had made that trek on foot before them, in 1801; the Carters’ decision began a tradition that the nation now expects of its newly minted first families.

This seems like it wouldn’t happen today…

The Carters sent their daughter to public school. They also brought her nanny, Mary Prince, to Washington. Ms. Prince had been wrongly convicted of murder in Georgia and, under a work-release program, assigned to work in the governor’s mansion. With Mrs. Carter’s help, she received a reprieve so that she could move into the White House, a move enabled by Mr. Carter’s having himself designated to be Ms. Prince’s parole officer. After a later re-examination of the evidence in her case, she received a full pardon.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

            Sounds fishy.

Interesting. Rosalynn chose her directly out of work release to nanny her 4 year old.

                  They’ve been married 77 years.

Didn't like his politics. Didn't much like the way he taught Sunday School (theological disagreements, Jimmy was from the liberal side of the SBC).

Besides that, I thought they made a fine couple. The stuff above are disagreements. We used to could have those and still think people were good people.

                    Godspeed, Miss Rosalynn.

Is there a former President, living or not, who would have taught Sunday school more to your liking?

He’s the only SBC president AFAIK

Good point. It was at one time something I could not understand. When my father’s girlfriend told me she was ready I realized I did understand it.

Not sure if that is good or bad, just a knowing that there comes a point where life takes away more than it gives.

Carter is in the same denomination. As he got older, he became more liberal in his theological views. I suspect he and George W. are closer theologically than most Presidents.

Sunday School class? Probably Truman. Possibly Grant.
