An archive - arranged by difficulty (Monday is easiest)

The saying, "Lite is just one damn thing after another," is a gross understatement. The damn things overlap.

Hmm, I did them once in a while, and usually only the Monday ones, but I always thought that the weekend one was the hardest. I see that the Sunday one is considered "intermediate". Shows my skill level!!!! LOL

The best thing about the NYT crossword is that each puzzle has a "theme". Frequently, the theme has a sense of humor, so that various words are connected in a way.

One puzzle, years ago, had all of Elizabeth Taylor's husbands as the answers:

        Hilton
        Wilding
        Todd
        Fischer
        Burton
        Burton
        Warmer
        Fortensky

Another one had a musical theme.

        Clue: "Stinging insect's high grade."
        Answer: ***LOL***

Not every puzzle has a theme and the themeless ones are the hardest. Usually Friday and Saturday. I do the NYT crossword everyday but I can only solve consistently Monday - Wednesday. Thursdays sometimes but often I need to cheat. I find fridays and Saturday close to impossible. Sundays are just big wednesdays. Anyway I’ve been at it for years and they get easier as u have often enough repeating or similar clues. But fri sat is just hit and miss.
