I need some more “potion” experiments for Finley…
-
A regular pre-bathtime routine for us is to make potions… It started with a few plastic cups it’s food coloring and water, we make the four primary colors, then mix and match to make other colors. Then at the end we will have foaming potions (baking soda and vinegar)…
That’s starting to get a little old, though, and we need to up our mad science game…
Any suggestions?

Is he too young for these?
The cooking oil and water is a good one.

The paper towel thing was a cool idea! That’s perfect! Also, so was the oil idea… the frozen strawberry wasn’t in the video? That’s probably too old, though

Mixies.
What are mixies?
They're these toy things that do basic chemistry stuff. But it's not a science lesson, the point of them is more, "follow the steps and watch cool shit happen," which is all kids of a certain age care about anyway.

@Doctor-Phibes we did the paper towel mixing the food colored water, and that was just about the coolest idea I have seen. Simple… I’ve seen people use the trick for watering plants while they are traveling, but I never would have thought about it with food coloring and mixing shades! It was a big hit with me and a moderate hit with Finley.

Cool - I'm glad it was a success!
