The saying, "Lite is just one damn thing after another," is a gross understatement. The damn things overlap.

It makes me wonder how much of the CPI and inflation numbers were completely screwed by the Supply Line problems. The used car numbers are showing negative numbers because of the absolutely insane prices last year and the year prior with the vehicle shortages.

I saw this a few months back. Pretty interesting.

Is “weight” the amount that particular item carries in determining CPI?

I’m confused because July 21 was when we bought our new Pilot for less than the used. It seemed to be at the high point of used car inflation, but the chart shows -.4%. Was used car inflation really that high in July 2020, that the prices in 2021 were actually deflation?

According to this, https://ycharts.com/indicators/us_consumer_price_index_used_cars_and_trucks There was a small deflation from Jung to July 2021, but Y/Y it had jumped from 131.09 in July 20 to 195.22 in July 21. Isn’t that like a 40% increase?

I assume the sector numbers are month over month.
