1. Avoided a government shutdown
2. Raised the debt ceiling
3. Required the Director of National Intelligence to declassify information related to the origin of COVID

That's the entire list of "accomplishments," with the first two used to be routine.

Then a bunch of bills passed by the House but haven't got anywhere with the Senate.

Then the "investigations":

1. Biden's impeachment inquiry
2. Alleged weaponization of the Justice Department
3. UFO hearing
4. Bipartisan China select committee

And that's what the GOP did with their majority control of the House, right up until their Speaker was vacated.

Eh, maybe those bills are so bad that Sen. Schumer is doing right by the American people for not advancing those bills? You would have to argue those bills one by one.

The Impeachment Inquiry is a big one.

1. There is a decent chance it tars Joe Biden with the stench of corruption and possible treason, ruining his reputation and that of his family. A bonus would be some convictions.
2. It will further the narrative of the Just-us Department, continuing to augur their reputation into the mire of partisan politics.

I am not sure the middle ground people will be "swayed" to switch based on the enquires of either guy.

I'm not Jolly...

A significant part of the electorate seems to think that there is significant corruption in the Biden White House with respect to payments made to his family (and yeah, that constitutes a bribe). The constant drip drip of revelations is becoming harder to ignore.

I don't think the inquiries into Trump had as much of an effect, perhaps because people had a feeling that he was, shall we say, unscrupulous.

Will the House impeach him? Probably not.

Will these revelations cripple Biden? Hope so.

Well, yes, he's crippled. However, the question is whether he's crippled to the extent that people won't vote for him. He's pushing the "kindly grandpa" image which people like. The "crooked old man who accepts bribes" image...not so much.

If all the Republicans can manage is to nominate Trump to run against him, then people will vote for old Joe regardless of how crippled through corruption he appears or is in reality.

Maybe. Maybe not.

Trump is a known rascal. Always has been. But what is currently going on, is lawfare. I think a decent percentage of independents (moderate Democrats, ain't no independents) can perceive this for what it is and consider it unfair.

The 800-pound gorilla is the economy, though.

A dip in the economy, continued immigration problems, law&order issues and a common knowledge among a large segment of the population that Biden is involved in influence peddling...Yes, Trump can be reelected. A lot of that depends on whether he has enough inherent discipline to not shoot himself in the mouth.

And if I was Trump, I'd gave a long conversation with Scott about the VP slot.
