That part has been decided. Now, does this guy walk?

Those who cheered as J-6 American prisoners were locked in solitary for 18 months without trial, now suddenly fight tooth and nail for foreign terrorists’ "due process". — Buck Sexton

        Good question.

This guy was going out of his way to aggravate people to the extreme, for an on-camera response. If this had been nipped in the bud earlier, this would not have happened.

And another question...YouTube has pulled videos and demonetized people over political views and some pretty trivial stuff. Why don't they do that to these types of channels?

I actually have an answer for you on that. One example to illustrate the situation a as a whole:

I follow a guy who ostensibly talks about sound design but a whole bunch of other things, too. As a bit of a joke, he used a half-second clip of a Waffle House fight as B roll.

He got that half-second clip from its full version, used by the Fox News YouTube channel, which is a fully monetized video and not screened for any audiences.

His entire video was demonetized and labeled inappropriate for kids because in that half-second clip, someone was holding a chair.

He appealed to YouTube and not only did nothing happen, his reach has been throttled on every video he's made ever since. There's nothing he can do about it.

He's claiming they're going after him, which is not exactly correct. What's going on is that YouTube is fucked. There is absolutely no way they can monitor and police their own platform. What they do is rely on their algorithms to do most of the work. When inevitable discrepancies come up, their North Star is, "is there a dire need for YouTube to change its position on this video to protect itself?" If that answer is no, you're SOL. They'll hide behind the terms and agreements and tell you to go screw.

They don't yet have the means to easily censor these types of channels, and they don't have the means because it's so far not been threatening to YouTube to ignore them. Quite the opposite actually—they keep eyeballs on screens.

If enough people bitched or died and there were congressional inquiries, maybe it'd change.

          Please love yourself.

So...Can YT become supplanted as the primary long form video sharing platform? Or is it too big to fail?

The WW2 Channel does a great job of covering WW2 day-by-day and also has many enrichment videos, such as women on the homefront, etc. YouTube has pretty much demonetized most of their stuff, but they still upload due to the viewership numbers on the platform.

If there was just a valid competitor...
