What a hateful and quite frankly stupid view of things. So the narrative is that Democrats outnumber Republicans. So okay, what then? Democrats win the elections, the end? As long as they win elections everything will be fine and great for them and for everyone else?

There's millions and millions of never Trumpers who don't think beyond next election. These people will be socially obligated to never support any Republican going forward. Their social circles of emotionally captured mediocrities aren't humanly capable of that level of perspective change, and they'll die with never-Republican in their hearts. It started off as the innocuous Never Trumpism, but it can't stay there. Social dynamics won't allow it to stay there. So they'll get the government that is chosen for them, by the people who are more than happy to capitalize on the usefully idiotic masses.

I'm just hoping that the middle aged variety of lifer Democrats have some semblance left of a rational appreciation for markets, and free speech. They grew up in a time when those ideas were still considered virtuous. Lots of those sorts have been absorbed into the Democrat party in the Trump era, and my hope is that they can reign in some of the most egregious stupidity of the double digit IQ types of Democrat, who lack appreciation for some of these fundamental concepts. Since never-Trumpism, and its descendant Never-Republicanism, is non-ideological, it stands to reason that there are plenty of Dem voters nowadays who do have conservative principles rolling around in their heads, even if they're terrified to admit it, and will need to develop a new language to describe it.

Ah, but what happens as we enter Ax's Brave New World, where the indoctrination centers, er, universities, have only the worthy attending? Where half of the current student body transitions to being electricians, mechanics, plumbers and managers of the local Dollar General?

Nice straw man!
@Jolly, aren't you the one who usually claims that (1) many college students would be better off attending trade schools instead, (2) that public money like government backed students loans should be used to fund community college and trade school attendance, and (3) that you want state universities to offer "full ride" scholarships to the top 10% of high school graduates?
You have yet to define the metrics to be used to determine who the "top 10%" are, but supposedly that's your idea of deteriming who is "worthy" of attending universities, right?

What do you think the whole idea of online social credits is about?
No idea, you tell me, if it supports your claim that social media will bring about the demise of free speech. :man-shrugging:

- Yes
- I'd just as soon government get out of the student loan biz.
- In typical fashion, you are presented with a horse and demand to know why it isn't a cow.
And a racist cow, at that.

It's possible, just possible, that social media might have had a role in this:

Exactly the problem. Compromise seems to have been lost. Both sides think that if they were fully in power, we would be living in a utopia.
