Manchin is having trouble making a decision

He’s running for President. The rest is window dressing.
-
He's a Democrat in Independent clothing. He can't win the presidency. He might could make a showing in WV.
Personally, if I was him, I'd cast myself as a Voice of Reason, write a book or two and make some money lobbying.

I think he could beat Mr. Trump.
Not being Trump or Biden is a very big advantage.

You're not wrong there. Every morning I thank the Good God Almighty that I'm not either of them.
And I'm not even religious.

78 at inauguration. As an independent he would have no constituency in Congress at all ergo no possibility to get anything done domestically. I'm not familiar with his foreign policy chops.

Like many ‘independents’ (eg Bernie back in the day, even Lieberman) he’d caucus with one party or the other.

The interesting question to me is whether the DNC and RNC would actively campaign against him or just ignore him. With Gabbert or Yang, you treat them the same way you would the Green Party or Libertarians. Manchin? That would be a little more difficult to do…
