No froggies trilling at the church retention pond. None at all tonight.
Decided to walk around the porch by the front flower bed and the metal planter to check for Jurgi, Emmie, et al. Talked out loud to them, especially Jurgi. Asked Jurgi to talk to me, to let me know if he was there.
Heard a very quick chirp that was definitely froggie!!!!!!!!!!!!
The chirp came from the front flower bed or porch area near the ground, which is nearest my porch chair. No sighting yet, and no full trilling. Only a chirp, but I was darn happy to get that.
Jurgi knows me, and knows I won't shut up until he answers me.
He and Emmie are probably both under the porch, and that's a very long journey for them to come a the way from the church retention pond. I bet they're very tired. Maybe we'll see them in a day or two. He was very sweet to give me that chirp.
I know he's tired, it's such a big trip for little froggies. I hope Emmie is with him, and I hope they rest and eat lots of bugs.

They consider the retention pond their mecca. Must journey to there every year. An annual froggie pilgrimage across the street and to the Lutheran church retention pond.
I never got to see him this spring. I heard him trilling under my porch, but never got to see him. Haven't actually seen him since last fall. I hope to see him soon, maybe in a day or two. It's been a very long time.
He chirped for me!

What happened with those two boys you befriended -- was it last year? Are they still seeing to the froggies?
There are three brothers, and they still visit, with social distancing, now that I'm home again. They also still sell vegetables in the neighborhood from their garden. They're getting pretty savvy with their packaging, adding a logo to paper bags for things like the green beans. It's adorable.
They don't need to tend to the frogs from last year, as those are mature and on their own. The small ones I still have came with us for the six weeks we were gone. Ya, really!
I made a travel house for them that had all their goodies in it. Then when we got to Oregon, I set up a trellis in a large plant pot, put netting around it to enclose it, and they lived on my kiddo's balcony. They loved it!
These are probably the most travelled froggos ever. They went over 4,000 miles with us, through mountains, a brush fire, national parks and forests, and into every hotel we stayed at along the trip. Yes, I brought them in their travel house into the hotel. They didn't get their own room. Several times people asked what was in the container, and then they would want to look at the frogs inside it.
The frogs should really do a travel show on TV. They can handle nearly any travel situation, and could give good advice about packing, meals, etc.
The boys' parents are not sure yet about me giving the boys some frogs. I think they are concerned that the boys will want to have them in the house, or just temporarily bring them in the house, which could lead to all kinds of fun if one escaped. As D'Oh liked to say, "Hilarity ensued!"
The boys are not wearing masks, nor are their parents, so I'm not sure when we will be able to have visits on my front porch again. Though when we can get back to our porch visits, I will bake a chocolate cake for them again. They loved that last year. Chocolate cake and cold milk while out on the porch are pretty darn perfect.
In the meantime, they stop by to ask what I need for veggies. I give them a list, which they memorize on the spot, and they come back with it in about ten minutes. That's just enough time for me to get money to pay them. I only had a ten dollar bill last time, so I have four doallrs on account with them.
Their little sister, Miriam, is six now, so I asked when she would be in their business ventures, or if she had plans of her own. That stumped all four of them.
