At least three federal officers in Portland may not recover their vision after earlier this week demonstrators, who have shown up in crowds of over 1,000 for more than 50 consecutive nights, shined lasers in their eyes and threw fireworks at a federal courthouse, officials said...“
When officers responded to put out these fires, glass bottles were thrown and lasers – which can cause permanent blindness – were shined in their eyes,” Cline said. “We have three officers who currently have eye injuries and they may not recover sight in those eyes from those laser attacks.”
The FPS has purchased anti-laser glasses that federal officers are now wearing to prevent eye injuries.
Federal officers responded by deploying pepper balls and tear gas. Cline said officers observed one individual taking pictures of a water intake system to the Edith Green Federal Building, which is also under FPS protection. Earlier in the evening Monday night, a Twitter user said “So we can shut off the water to the buildings the feds are staying in to make it a nightmare for them.”
"Mostly peaceful" my ass.
Even if it's 1% violent, that's 1% too much.

Agree 100%
Me too, but (yeah, there's a but): if a protest is X% violent by participant, and that's too much in one's estimation, it still doesn't magically make the remainder violent. And if, like our current situation, you have "protesters" trying like hell to burn down the city, and other "protesters" trying like hell to legitimize their cause by keeping everything peaceful, then it's intellectually dishonest to pretend that only the former exists and ignore the latter, especially when the peaceful outnumber the violent.

Hey, you guys are all asleep while I'm watching live stream at 3 am on the west coast.
I can't figure it out. Yes, the crowds are large up until around midnight. Since Oregon is a white state, with only around 2%-3% black, the vast majority are white people chanting BLM slogans. I have noticed that black people are like, instant stars. They get hold of the megaphone, and direct the responsorials.
Around 1-2 am, Antifa moves to the front of the fed courthouse, and I'd say around 20 take part in banging on the plywood, setting fires, shining lasers, and other mischief. The hundreds of white protesters that remain, still participate in the chants, and of course everyone has their cell phones out, I guess trying to get "the" video. The fed officers come out in fatigues, toss some tear gas, the angry mob backs off, the feds go back inside and shore up the broken plywood, and this recycles over the course of the lovely summer evening.
At 3 am, the two main guys that provide the live stream call it a night, and go offline by 3:30. I guess the Antifa guys keep up the carnage until just before sunrise.
Given there are perhaps a thousand protesters, I'd really like to be able to interview some of them. Are they really not aware that BLM has very little to do with what's going on?
I wish Ax could go down there. I'm too chickken, but my bud Ax ain't afraid of nothin. He's on the east coast though, so not gonna happen.
