    I voted for him.

Those who cheered as J-6 American prisoners were locked in solitary for 18 months without trial, now suddenly fight tooth and nail for foreign terrorists’ "due process". — Buck Sexton

Fits the pattern of GOP being admired in retrospect but never real time. Hmmmm

Jon, that comment was.not directed at you.

            (irrelevant tangent post)

I worked with the surgeon who operated on Dole's war injuries.

"A pioneer in the restoration of damaged limbs, he was instrumental in helping U.S. Senator Bob Dole. When Dole returned from World War II with injuries that had left his right arm frozen and about to be amputated, he fixed the shattered shoulder and allowed Dole to regain some use of his arm."

              Jesus Christ you’re old.

Tell me something I don't know.

That surgeon died in 1984. His son and I were classmates in medical school. We shared a cadaver - we named the cadaver "Earnest."

                  Another tangent post.

There is an organization called Honor Flight Chicago. It started out flying World War 2 veterans from Chicago to Washington DC and giving them a day tour of the sites of Washington DC. Started out only allowing World War 2 veterans but have since expanded to Korea War veterans and maybe Vietnam veterans now. Anyway, they really do a good job of honoring the veterans. Through a friend, I was able to help on a couple of flights. It brought tear to my eye to do that. Great day to participate in.

(Now to the point of my tangent post).

As much as possible, Senator Dole always tried to greet the veterans at the World War 2 memorial. I think a really nice gesture by him.

We visited the Dole pineapple plantation when on Oahu. Biggest ripoff of the entire trip. 100% tourist trap.
Where is Bob? I want my money back.
Yeah, he's a hero and stuff. . . but I still want my money back.
