    The essential problem here is that somebody has overstepped their Biblical lines of authority...

      I’ve never heard that you need to obey parents regardless of your age.

        @Mik said in Not Biblical:

        It's not there, AFAIK. Lines of authority, as in Ephesians 6:

        1Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. 2Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;) 3That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.

        4And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

        That may be what the Duggar patriarch is building his castle upon.

        But he's wrong. Jesus came to fulfill the Law and Genesis 2 still means what it says:

        23 And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.

        24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

        This is a new family unit. And while children should always honor their parents, the husband is now head of this new home.

        Lastly, God is assuming that parents will raise their children in a loving manner and teach them properly, as He has commanded. The Bible does not condone obeying a parent teaching false doctrine.

          I dont understand why anybody would want to be on a reality show (okay, I suppose $$$ has something to do with it).

            Money has everything to do with it.

              Money, fame, narcissism.

              That father sounds like an asshole. He’s using his religion as an excuse to justify his being a control freak, which incidentally is another symptom of narcissism.

              I was only joking
