We're going to make some people rich...

“Cry havoc and let slip the DOGE of war!”

Those who cheered as J-6 American prisoners were locked in solitary for 18 months without trial, now suddenly fight tooth and nail for foreign terrorists’ "due process". — Buck Sexton

I see this Vietnam piece as part and parcel of this larger strategy:
      https://nodebb.the-new-coffee-room.club/topic/26620/biden-s-foreign-policy-for-the-emerging-markets/10

All this could have happened sooner too under the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) promoted by the Obama administration had Trump not torpedoed the TPP. Trump has set us back half a decade on this one, if not more.

I am with Ax on this one. The TPP, while not perfect, should have gone forward. It does have the US playing "catch up".

Many deals announced between US and Vietnamese companies. Semiconductor, energy, avionics, and AI seem to be the emphases:

Still, Vietnam remains a Communist-led, single-party republic. In that sense it's still very similar to China. :man-shrugging:

Yup, but their not China. LOL. It gives the US a good "foothold" in SE Asia, and we can leverage that through the region (hopefully!)
