I have never been a person who believes that gold is a good investment. Like anything, there are short bursts where it looks great, but that can be said about most investment things.

I do say that for people in 3 world countries, gold can be a good choice, just because there is not any access to other investment ways.

I see it as a hedge for political risk.

If you owned a factory in Russia in 1917, there was zero chance it wouldn’t be stolen from you. If you owned gold, there was a reasonable chance you could escape to Switzerland with it.

It doesn't tend to increase in real value, but it doesn't tend to lose, either.
