To read the entire interview, you need ESPN+, but there are some very interesting tidbits here. The most troubling is that Payton didn't say the NFL is rigged, but he said the NFL is rigged.

If you look at stats, yes. The question becomes who were officials biased against and why?

Part of any game plan Payton had, was a detailed report on the officiating crew. If a crew had a point of emphasis - something they called more than other crews - the Saints addressed it at practice. Didn't stop them from being one of, if not THE most penalized teams in the NFL.

Emmanuel Sanders once said in an interview, that he had played in the league for eleven years and never seen anything like it.

A lot of the rules they have implemented leave room for referee discretion, particularly targeting some other personal fouls. It kind of gives the zebras carte blanche to affect the game. Like the supposed late hit by Ossai against the Chiefs.

@Mik said in A Troubling Truth:

            carte blanche

More like cartel blanche. In other words, a gang of white people, systemically oppressing the black athletes.

            Education is extremely important.

Nah. That's the owners. Colin told me.

If the XFL can utilize full replay on penalties, what's stopping the NFL?
