I think the guy was a potentially dangerous nutjob, but... The current thought process of arresting someone has changed a lot, since the old FBI of fifty years ago.

In the old days, you'd try to arrest somebody using only adequate force and you'd try to take your target in a more isolated place, if possible. For instance, Koresh was known to drive into Waco on a routine basis. A staged blockade and traffic stop would have been easy...And the way the old FBI used to do things like that.

    Force and the Feds...

      I agree with you but............

It is read in the news about police shootings. And the comments are, "He shouldn't have had a gun. He shouldn't have pointed a weapon. He shouldn't have resisted arrest. He shouldn't have run. etc"

Yeah. That's common sense. I would venture to say I've probably had more adversarial encounters with law enforcement officers than anyone else here. Over a dozen, at least 20 more if you throw in traffic stops. In all that time do you know how many times I've been roughed up or even verbally abused? Zip. Zero. Nada. Why is that? I made damn sure that I presented no threat to them and treated them with respect, even when I might well be headed for jail. I stone guarantee you that if you do that you'll be just fine.

Did you know they all carry guns and clubs? Why would you want to accost someone like that?
