Does anyone have any thoughts about what the Capitol Police chief had to say?

I thought that’s what we are talking about when we consider the intention behind the lack of security.

@ Donald Trump continues to portray himself as some kind of prophet of freedom and justice, and his followers consider to absolve him of any blame.

Let’s assume that he really is some kind of prophet of freedom and justice.

        There, doesn’t that feel good?

I think it's probably the crack you're smoking that feels good.

        I was only joking

          Pretty much.

That's something that's been speculated about quite a bit. This interview drops a few more pieces into the puzzle.

I've been mentioning since Jan 7 that if the Trump haters were legit concerned that Jan 6 was a threat to our democracy, they'd have directed at least 1% of their outrage, at the lack of security. Since they never have and never will, we can know that it's all political opportunism. TDS sufferers were elated at January 6.

It's similar to a woke person catching a conservative saying something racist. They're not actually worried that the conservative did damage by saying something racist. They're just thrilled that their world view and sense of purpose in life, has been confirmed.

            Education is extremely important.

              That's true.

I bopped across the fence this morning...Something I do every blue moon...And the folks were talking about how angry a lot of people in the middle of the country are. One said he wouldn't bother to shop or buy gas at a place that had one of "those" political signs on the premises.

Maybe some introspection is in order. Might be interesting for some to ask themselves why the average joe seems to be more angry? And why do I think that Trump supporters are stupid and racist?

People see what they want to see. The person who wrote that is on record as being afraid to leave California, because of the scary people in flyover country. That was as of several years ago. Apparently circumstances change.

During Trump's term, I didn't have to go out shopping to be confronted with political rage, I'd get it right at work, where I needed to make my living. The morning after Trump was elected, a white woman I worked with cornered me in a conversation where she told me her nine year old son cried at the previous night's results. She wasn't trying to blame me, she was just assuming anybody she might talk to, would totally understand. She needed shoulders to cry on that day. Over the course of the rest of Trump's term, random "fuck Trump"s could be heard at random times in the halls and conference rooms.

As for the crying nine year old, the only thought I had in my head at that story, was that she was a shitty mother for dumping her political anxieties on her child to that extent. She thought she was telling me how a pure innocent child felt about Trump, when she was actually telling me how she programmed her child to feel about Trump.

Isn't it funny how, when it comes to a face-to-face encounter with one of "those people," all that pent-up resentment goes away and you can have a civil, even pleasant conversation about unrelated stuff - even buying gas?

Ironic that people are outraged at the "anger" in flyover country but are themselves so angry that they won't do business or have social interactions there.

OTOH, you can bet your sweet ass if some Trump supporter approached him, wanting him to do a multi-million dollar construction project, he would have no problem doing a job for the person.

Or that he would never engage in a bid for a project, unless he knew the politics of the people involved.

It is not my impression that there is any correlation between genuine human goodness, and a strong hatred of Trump. I mean, maybe some of you think of jon as a saint like figure, but I'm not one such person.

Now, rolling this back to January 6...

People like Jon - and there are a lot of them, mostly on the coasts - have absolutely salivated over January 6. It reaffirms to their inner self that A) they were right about the Trump cretins, and B) I'm a better person than those people.

They enjoyed the Gestapo-like tactics of the DOJ, from SWAT raids on peaceful homes to harsher sentences on rioters than even the prosecutors asked for (that's the judge in Trump's current D.C. trial, BTW). These folks have never stopped to consider a few things:

                        1. These "Trumpians" (spit) are American citizens just like they are, with the same rights and privileges as any other American citizen. They aren't demons from the pits of Hell.
                        2. The vast, vast majority of people at Trump's rally went back to their hotel rooms or drove back to their homes after the rally.
                        3. The rally was not illegal. Neither was the fact that Trump espoused his opinion that he though he had been rooked out of an election.
                        4. The riot at the capitol was wrong. Nobody argues that it wasn't. But I have seen treatment and sentencing of people involved, that makes one scratch his head when those arrests and sentences are juxtaposed against other, similar crimes. If Justice is not blind, there is no Justice. Some seem quite happy with that. We must punish these people severely! Why? Because Trump.
                        5. If the January 6 Commission actually wanted to accomplish something besides political theater, they would have had more than two minority members on their commission. And those minority members would not have been Democrat lapdogs. It was Breathless Bullshit, packaged with the help of professional media people. I'm just surprised they didn't open up each session by playing The Internationale
                        6. Tucker's interview has brought some different points forward, points that should have been examined by the January 6 committee while listening and evaluation testimony. But since some of this didn't fit the message, they didn't want the country to hear it. The rubes need to know what we script for them, not the truth.
