I think you are correct Jolly. It is one thing to evict someone. But, if you do not have a tenant to fill that spot, then just maybe, a late rent check or reduced rent check is better than no rent check at all.

In Maryland, you can't evict due to a COVID-19 related reason to not pay rent. And I'd say that this policy is best for the landlords, too, at least in the short term, for the reason TG just mentioned.

Did they extend the same consideration to the Landlord on their mortgage?

If the mortgage is backed by the federal government, then the eviction moratorium also protects the landlord from foreclosure.

We have a VA backed mortgage and were sent a notice that we had a 60 day allowance with no penalties. Paid anyway, but I am considering what refi options might be available now.
