An opinion piece, some of it is right, but for the wrong reasons...

One they were off on, was the Kentucky Rifle.
It's true the Kentucky used a smaller bullet at a higher velocity. Less bullet weight, less powder, higher velocities, flatter trajectories and higher accuracy.
But the Kentucky had a serious flaw...fouling would render it useless, while the Brown Bess was still thumping out rounds. Because of the way armies tended to fight in those days, muskets were more effective overall. Rifles were great weapons, IF you used them appropriately.
