LeMay killed a tremendous number of Japanese with his fire bombing campaign. Many estimates place deaths in Tokyo at 100,000.
Targets for the bombing campaign? Wasn't hard...LeMay had a prewar atlas of Japan and he started by bombing the most populous city and he was working his way down the list.

It really is amazing that the Japanese and US are not just politically allied at the government level, but are also extremely open to each other culturally, with little animosity or prejudice against each other. And it’s not just recent… Within 30 years most of the horrors and atrocities of the war were culturally forgiven on both sides.
