I assume all of those numbers, lower than anticipated as they are, are inflated through the use of "dying with covid" numbers, rather than "dying of covid" numbers. The "with covid" numbers are the only numbers the world accumulated.

          Hey!

          I think covid is over!

This thread made me curious. So I went to see how we were doing.

The last date with any deaths is June 22, there were 65 deaths reported.

          How come nobody told us?

There must be an election coming up.

I was relooking through a couple of books on the Great Plague of 14th century. Puts COVID in perspective.

Curious though the mortality rate of Covid if we had the same medical practices and infrastructure as 14th century Europe.

              Elbows up!

The vaccines weren't true vaccines, but they did work in a public health sense. By Delta, though, they were becoming less useful. Today, with the myriad variants of COVID, they are of limited use, and actually may be more harm than good in certain patient populations.

I think Fauxi lied to the American people. While certain public health measures did help slow the spread, keeping the health system from being swamped, I think his lies about pathogen origin, masking and the continued disruption of society after it was clear that some draconian measures were not working, have severely undermined the reputation of the CDC.

Interesting thought. I dont know the answer. I am not sure that COVID is as deadly untreated at plague is untreated.

But it would have been pretty bad I think.

The scale of death during 1347-1349 in UK was crazy high.
