"Jerry Lewis on the set of his unfinished unreleased 1972 production of The Day the Clown Cried. Before his death he donated a rough unfinished cut of the film to the Library of Congress with the stipulation that it not be shown before June of 2024. I would love to be in the audience. The movie was set in a Nazi concentration camp, and Lewis played a man who dressed up as a clown to accompany children to the gas chambers. It is said that his character was so dark, that he tried to change the script, but the original screenplay author held the rights and refused his changes, so he stopped its release."
"This 30 minute "rough cut" (with subtitles no sound) is the most footage that has been released. This cut also contains re-enacted scenes with the original actors. You can get a general sense of what the film is like."

Naziism will be frowned upon, when viewed through the lens of history. I hope I live long enough to see it.

That is quite interesting. It appears that among people who have seen it, but may not be that good.

I get depressed enough watching regular Jerry Lewis movies.
