      It seems to me that just having a replaceable battery would help average longevity enormously, since that tends to be the part that stops functioning.

            I find the operating system much more interesting than the hardware.

              I like the concept, which is why I said to apply it to cars. Much of what we buy as consumers, is not made to be durable or repairable. The manufacturers like it that way, since they can peddle more product, but it is the least green approach to energy and resource use.
