Mrs. George was asking about streaming services, having seen an ad for the "Peacock Network," which is NBC's entry into the streaming wars.

(any comments on the next paragraph will be ignored)

In our house, the TV is on all the time. ALL THE TIME.

    (OK, moving on)

With Comcast, I'm limited to 1.3 TB of data without a penalty. However, I can upgrade to unlimited for $100 a month internet access.

Considering I pay about $170 for cable and internet right now, I wonder if dumping cable TV would be worth it. I already have Netflix, HULU, Amazon. I assume that most other streaming services run about $10 a month.

So, what other streaming platforms does everyone use?

    Apple TV?
    CBS All Access?
    Disney?
    Peacock?

What other ones am I missing?

YouTube TV (not YouTube, that is something different)

We use YouTube TV for local channels and cable stations.

It works on ROKU, Smart TV, XBox, iPhone/iPad, Android. For $50 per month you get 5 users, me, my wife, D1 and husband.

I like the user interface, and you get unlimited recording - unlimited.

We have been off cable TV for a couple years, we don't miss it or the cost.

Actually, I think it is now $65.

              My subscriptions:

Disney plus and Hulu is something like $12 a month. Hulu has lots of classic dramas and sitcoms on it if that’s your thing.

Prime (included in amazon prime membership if you have that) - not bad. Has some food exclusive shows.

              Netflix

I used to subscribe to YouTube tv, but I couldn’t stand TV news anymore - so don’t need it. (And they keep jacking up the price.

If I have to pick only one streaming service, it would be Disney+. Seems to have the most quality entertainment per dollar. It won't get you the broadcast network or local TV, however, so no ABC/NBC/CBS.

CBS you can subscribe separately. PeacockTV can get you NBC. There is no way to get ABC without getting a TV package from somebody (e.g., maybe Comcast, maybe YouTubeTV).

If you are not picky about what you stream 24x7, the free YouTube will do ... just set it to auto-play whatever Google/YouTube's algorithm thinks you want to play next.

If you have Amazon Prime membership (say, because you like "free shipping"), you would also already have Amazon Prime's streaming service, and you can set that to auto-play so it streams 24x7 too.

Considering where you live, locals should be able to be picked up on a simple indoor antenna.

With grandkids, Disney+ would be the one that would interest me...

Before you pay out for Disney+, remember all those fantastic shows and movies Ax recommended?

                    No, neither do I.

I thought Peacock was "free" with xfinity. No? I recently called xfinity to upgrade our internet service to their 1000 mbps service plus their AMC service and phone. Runs $170/month. Separately we have Netflix and Amazon. We occasionally will drop Netflix and move to CBS or Hulu to graze on some of their series.

The CW is also free, but you have to their app to watch. I use it mostly to watch the DC superhero series.
